6th Interstellar Corps - No Man's Sky?

Postby CMDR Yannik Walton » Wed Aug 10, 2016 9:22 am

Obviously the 6IC is a very dear thing to Elite. However, this larger website was set up with the scope of carrying the 6IC into other games. Now, No Man's Sky is pretty much a brother or sister to Elite in the way that it is in the same vein of gameplay. So, should we expand the 6th Interstellar Corps into No Man's Sky, or create a new 6IC term for NMS?

At the moment, these forums are not restricted in any way, so all 6IC members can join in the fun.

My vote would be to carry the name over as I don't think it will cause any confusion as we would be using it in given context.

But, I think that decision should be up to the players who are actually playing and I won't be, at least not at first. I want to play it, but I will wait for a discounted version in some 6-12 months time.

Perhaps they want a new name, to go with the new game.. maybe "6th Sky Corps"?

That said, I believe NMS is essentially a single player game. There is actually very little chance of meeting another player because the galaxy is huge and players are spawned at random locations. It might be possible to find each other in the game if you really tried tho.

Yeah, I had that... worry(?), too. Seems it may be so bloody huge that finding your mates would be nigh on impossible!

I heard it will be difficult to find people, but I read that you could use some in game coordinates to find friends in game. Given the size of NMS, maybe creating new saves until you get a start point near to a friend's start point is the way to go.

Seems like a dumbed down cartoon game to me. I did play the solus project which although just on s single world has a similar mechanic, quite fun for a bit, but the detail is amazing.

But having sentinels on every planet that shoot you if you kill the local fauna, no ship upgrades.. Hmmmm it all seems a bit contrived to me.

Me young! Well thank you very much sir !!!

I think it was a very positive position to carry on playing elite and not get distracted by brightly coloured Muppet animals wandering around everywhere. I will feel much better for it :-)

Ok so i've bought the thing, and it'll be downloading from 6pm tonight.

Any idea if we're gonna have an attempted/planned meeting point potentially if we ever mabage to work out a coordinate system to meet up?

Or at least exchange information about.
